THREE (3) TOP PROJECTS WERE AWARDED IN TVET YOUTH CHALLENGE 4TH EDITION
On the 27th of September 2023, IPRC Musanze hosted the 4th Edition of the TVET Youth Challenge organized by the Ministry of Youth, in partnership with the Ministry of Education through Rwanda Polytechnic, UNPD and Higher Learning Institutions, to attract and support innovative projects and ideas by the students from TVET institutions, as well as addressing challenges observed in some economic activities.
During the competition three (3) best innovators’ projects among eleven presented; were selected and awarded to the institutional level: Ireme Bridge System by Ngabonziza Elie emerged as the best project with a prize of 1, 500,00Rwf, Bio-Pesticide Production by Irasubiza Louange was awarded 1,200,000Rwf, and Smart Irrigation System Controlled by Mobile Phone by Ngirabakunzi Janvier won the third position with 1,000,000Rwf.
Eng. Emile Abayisenga, the Principal of IPRC Musanze recognized the Ministry of Youth together with other partners who put much effort into organising the TVET Youth Challenge. He congratulated the winning contestants with all the participants for their good innovative ideas and prototypes, and he called them to keep innovating.
IPRC Musanze winning contestants together with other competitors from different Higher Learning Institutions will attend a five-day boot camp to be equipped with relevant skills that will help improve their innovative projects, enrich the level of business management, as well as aligning the projects with real-life challenges on the labor market. It is expected that the National-level competition will take place on the 27th of October, 2023.
IPRC Musanze has an Incubation Centre that facilitates students’ innovative ideas in the fields of its departments, to be further developed and make prototypes that are marketable and acceptable to industry. The students also gain necessary business-related skills and information through mentorship and training, to promote entrepreneurship culture.
