Swearing in ceremony of the New Guild Council
This 30th September 2022 marked the swearing-in ceremony of a new students’ leadership committee and a handover with its predecessor. This ceremony was presided over by the Principal of IPRC Musanze. During this ceremony the outgoing committee presented to the community of IPRC Musanze, the achievements made in Academic Year 2021-2022. In the same perspective, a new committee presented to the Students Union the targets for the current Academic Year.
In his remarks, the Principal of IPRC Musanze, Eng. Emile Abayisenga, acknowledged the contribution of the outgoing Guild Council to the activities of IPRC Musanze community activities. He congratulated all members of the new Guild Council for winning elections and urged them to play their role in helping IPRC Musanze to meet its target of increasing students’ population up to 2100 in the next academic year. He recommended the committee to keep up good activities initiated by previous committees, such as cultural activities, sports, and talent promotion, and challenged students not to take those activities only for entertainment but also for the development of good values. The Principal recommended them to put effort into students’ discipline, innovation projects, and research.
In his speech, the outgoing Guild President, Shaffi Omar GIKUNDIRO, thanked students for their effort in making tremendous achievements. He also thanked the leadership of IPRC Musanze for its unceasing support that helped the Guild Council achieve its goals. In his presentation of achievements, the Guild President highlighted enormous contribution of the Student Union to different activities of IPRC Musanze that went even beyond its boundaries to the neighboring community through community outreach program. The latter includes participation in community work and the construction of latrines and kitchen gardens for vulnerable people in Nkotsi Sector.
The new Guild Council President, Innocent Nkurikiyimfura, presented to the IPRC Musanze community plans for this academic year 2022-2023. All activities are dispatched into various categories, including but not limited to academic life, social welfare, community outreach activities, talent promotion, and Rwandan culture promotion. He called upon the participation of each student towards achieving the goals set for 2022–2023. He thanked the Students Union and promised to a good collaboration with students to meets their academic goals.
The 3rd Guild President of IPRC Musanze Students Union, Pacifique Nizeyimana, shared his experience with students on the labor market. He mentioned that his experience in students’ leadership helped him to compete, and currently he is in local government as a chief of cell in Ruhango. He thanked IPRC Musanze's leadership for its advocacy for students preparing for their future. He urged students to think about how they might create jobs to be successful. He also advised them to maintain discipline. He reminded students that being at university is an opportunity that should not be taken for granted, for it is a good opportunity that helps to create a bright future.
Rukundo Samuel, who represented the Chairperson of RP Students Union, thanked the outgoing committee for its achievements and commitment to contributing to enhancing quality education and promoting students’ social welfare. He stated that he believes that the new committee will achieve its goals. He urged the new committee to play a key role by linking students to the leadership of IPRC Musanze. He encouraged them to work as a team and manage well the budget of the Students Union in the students’ interests. He thanked the Principal of IPRC Musanze for the usual support that IPRC Musanze offers the Students Union to achieve its goals.
The new committee is made up of an Executive Committee, a Representative Board and an Arbitration Committee. It will serve the students' Union in this Academic Year 2022-2023.
