RP 5th Graduation: Over 250 IPRC Musanze students graduate
The 12th May 2022 marked Rwanda Polytechnic 5thGraduation that took place in Kigali at IPRC Kigali Stadium. During this ceremony, 252 students from IPRC Musanze graduated and received awards of Advanced Diploma and Diploma after a successful completion their studies in different areas namelyCivil Engineering (60 graduates), Agriculture and Food Processing (47graduates), Irrigation and Drainage Technology (49 graduates), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (42graduates), and Hospitality Management (54graduates).
The RP 5thGraduation was officiated by Hon. Claudette Irere, the Minister of State in charge of ICT and TVET. In her remarks, the Minister of State congratulated graduates on their significant academic achievements. “It is my privilege and pleasure to congratulate all the graduates for this significant academic achievement. It is a major milestone in your lives that no many have been fortunate enough to make it far for various reasons,” she mentioned. The Minister acknowledged graduates’ hardworking spirit, “we recognize time, effort and work that you put in to reach this point. Hard work should always continue to be a part of your work. You have to always work and work more,” she stated.
Addressing graduates, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, Dr. Sylvie Mucyo urged them to uphold cultural values for they will enable them to contribute to national development.“The practical and entrepreneurial skills gained from Rwanda Polytechnic accompanied with values of excellence, patriotism, loyalty and respect, they are not only self-help and lifesaving skills required to create jobs and compete in the labour market, but also, they are skills required to contribute to the attainment of the social and economic transformation, one of the three pillars of the National strategy for transformation,” she mentioned. Furthermore,Dr. Sylvie Mucyo encouraged graduatesto embrace challenges as they progress, to continue to seize opportunities to learn, grow, innovate, adapt and be resilient. She reminded them that learning is a lifelong journey.
During this ceremony, best performers were awarded in two categories: Best performer from each College and the Best Project at RP level. The best performer from IPRC Musanze is Patrick Niyigena, a graduate in Agriculture and Food Processing. The best project at RP level came from IPRC Musanze; it is entitled “Design and production of special ventilation block in waste of plastics and glass,” by Theophile Habimana, IPRC Musanze graduate in Construction Technology.
In this ceremony, Rwandan competitors and RP students who won medals in the WorldSkills Africa competition were recognized. The competition took place at Swakopmund in Namibia, in March 2022.
This year, Rwanda Polytechnic counts 2753 graduates, made up of 622 females and 2131 males, who were awarded Diploma and Advanced Diploma Certificates from eight Colleges of Rwanda Polytechnic.
