Open Day at IPRC Musanze
This 29th March, 2019 marked the Open Day at IPRC Musanze. This event attracted different stakeholders of IPRC Musanze from both public and private sectors. IPRC Musanze organised it to celebrate its 4 years of existence and two graduations, to acknowledge the role of stakeholders in meeting its goals, and to show potentials investors the opportunities at IPRC Musanze in which they can invest.
IPRC Musanze started on the 30th March 2015, it has five advanced programmes: Agriculture & Food Processing Irrigation and Drainage Technology, Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, Hospitality Management. It also offers the short courses in Food Processing, Masonry Plumbing, Carpentry, Welding, Domestic Electrical Installation, Culinary Arts (Cooking), and Food & Beverage Services. IPRC Musanze counts 864 graduates and currently, it has 1,112 students and 112 Staff.
The Principal of IPRC Musanze, Eng. Emile Abayisenga presented to the stakeholders and people present the achievements made within four years. Apart from the academic achievements whereby IPRC Musanze had two graduations, the Principal revealed that IPRC Musanze, through its community outreach and the commitment of Staff, has helped the community in its neighbourhood to improve their social welfare. He mentioned that IPRC Musanze donated shelter, cows, start-up capital for small business and health insurance to vulnerable citizens in Musanze district. He acknowledged the important role of stakeholders in the academic activities that help IPRC Musanze to train the competent workforce.
The Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development in Musanze district, Augustin Ndabereye stated that different programmes have been put into place to help youth create their own jobs to promote Made in Rwanda. Among others, he mentioned the support of Business Development Fund (BDF) and Agakiriro programme. He urged them to fully benefit from the available opportunities.
In his remarks, the guest of honour, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration and Finance in Rwanda Polytechnic, Dr. Alex Luberwa encouraged the students of IPRC Musanze to work hard and translate the acquired skills and knowledge into the projects that responds to the issues in the community. He promised students that Rwanda Polytechnic will keep on supporting them in their technical innovations and their projects to turn them into profitable business.
The graduates took time to share with the public their experience at the labour market. Simbi Aimé Jules, a graduate from IPRC Musanze and the CEO of RCGF Ltd, appreciated the skills and knowledge gained from IPRC Musanze for he (and his colleagues) managed to start a company. He acknowledged the support and the career guidance that his company obtained from IPRC Musanze to improve its business.
