Musanze Polytechnic students urged to be good leaders
Musanze Polytechnic students have been urged to be active in leadership by applying good values and ethics. This call was made on Wednesday the 22nd November, 2017 by the Principal of Musanze Polytechnic, ABAYISENGA Emile, in a public lecture he delivered to students and staff. The lecture was under the theme of “Leadership and Ethics.”
The lecture was brought as the civic education to inspire students to be good citizens and good future leaders. After discussing the concept of leadership, some key subjects were discussed: The factors of leadership, the styles of leadership, ethics, and taboos.
The Principal urged students to work hard and be visionary to become future leaders. He disclosed that a good leader must know his/her team, and he/she has to be visionary and a role model. “A good leader should be skilled in managing people and assets, planning, harmonising the structure, hiring and managing the competent personnel,” he mentioned.
Through his personal experience from his childhood, the Principal inspired students to be courageous and committed striving to perform well whenever they are assigned any duties. He challenged them to believe in themselves and focus on success, as they prepare to be the leaders of tomorrow.
BIKORIMANA Jean de Dieu, a student in Hospitality Management, said that he was grateful for the lecture because he learnt a lot. “We always receive lectures on various leadership topics but we still need to deepen our understanding of leadership,” he added.
At Musanze Polytechnic, Wednesday afternoon is reserved for the civic education lectures that help the entire community at the Campus learn the government policies, and discuss about different inspiring topics to be good active citizens.
