On May 16, 2025, RP-Musanze College stood with the nation and global community to mark the 31^st commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, paying heartfelt tribute to the more than one million lives lost and reaffirmed its commitment to the values of unity and humanity.

Staff and students gathered at the Musanze Genocide Memorial Site (Court d’Appel de Ruhengeri), where they honored the memory of victims through moments of silence, wreath-laying, and storytelling. In parallel, the college hosted an institutional Memorial Day on campus, fostering dialogues and reflection around this year’s national theme: “Remember – Unite – Renew.”

The event emphasized the core objectives of raising awareness about the sanctity of life, remembering the atrocities of 1994, standing united against genocide ideology, and renewing collective determination to prevent such horrors from recurring.

During his address, the Northern Province Governor Maurice Mugabowagahunde emphasized the critical role of young people in safeguarding truth and memory. He urged RP-Musanze College students to remain vigilant on social media and actively distance themselves from individuals or platforms that deny the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. By doing so, he noted, they protect not only the dignity of the past but also the unity and future of Rwanda. 

By anchoring itself in memory and purpose, RP-Musanze College once again demonstrated the power of education in rebuilding trust, nurturing empathy, and shaping a future free from hatred. The spirit of KWIBUKA 31 lives on through the voices, actions, and commitments of those who refuse to forget.
