Kwibuka 23 started at Musanze Polytechnic this Friday 7 April, 2017
7th April 1994 - 7thApril, 2017; 23 years commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 occurred in Rwanda where over one million of Tutsi were killed.
Kwibuka 23 at Musanze Polytechnic was opened by the Ag. Principal ABAYISENGA Emile where he started comforting those who survived and encouraging them for Rwanda is secured and genocide will never happen again. He said that the light has come and no more darkness. He argued that Rwanda is progressing in all sectors and reminded young people from Musanze Polytechnic to build on our progress fighting the genocide ideology.
The Ag. Principal asked young students and the whole Musanze Polytechnic community to fight against genocide ideology.
He concluded saying that we all should get strong and get our own solution and develop our Rwanda with no genocide ideology.
Furthermore, during Kwibuka 23 at Musanze Polytechnic, a public talk was also conducted by Mr. NDUWAYESU Elie wth the Theme “the history of preparation and implementation of the genocideagainst the Tutsi” (Amateka y’itegurwa n’ishyirwa mu bikorwa rya jenoside yakorewe Abatutsi). He started saying that Rwandans were divided by colonialists for before their arrival Rwandans were one people and patriotic. He said” Colonialists divided Rwandans saying that Tutsi are not Rwandans rather foreigner from Ethiopia…” and this led to hate and agony which resulted to the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994”.
His main message for students and staff at Musanze Polytechnic was to take time and analyse on everything that may come their way.
After this important lecture, the participants of Kwibuka 23 at Musanze Polytechnic heard H.E Paul Kagame remark where He started comforting the genocide survivors. He said "You have lost your families but there is one family that still belongs to you; your country."
