On this 24^th February 2018, IPRC Musanze staff joined Nkotsi sector residents in the monthly community work at Muguta River. The main activities were to remove the sand, and stones in the river to keep water flow smoothly, and plant trees to fight against erosion.

During the rainy season, Muguta River overflows its banks and hits crops in the surrounding marshland, and destroys the houses. The local residents of Nkotsi have watched, for years, their soil and crops washed away by rain. That’s why strategies have been put in place to control the erosion which destroys and takes away the arable soil, and affects the lives of local residents.
