IPRC Musanze Second Open Day
The 13th May 2022 marked the Second Open Day at IPRC Musanze. During this event students and staff showcased different products, prototypes, innovations, research and their consultancy capacity in various domains. The Open Day was organized to celebrate achievements made over 7 years including but not limited to a recent graduation, projects/innovations, and a contribution to social welfare through Community Outreach activities. The event attracted different stakeholders from both public and private sector.
Through departments, the following are some the projects/innovations showcased:

In his remarks, the guest of honour to this event, Jean Claude MUSABYIMANA, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), thanked IPRC Musanze for organising such an important event that helps the public to see what has been achieved through teaching and learning activities. The Permanent Secretary urged students to be aware of and benefit from available opportunities/government initiatives, such as BDF, that have put into place to support youth. He encouraged them to take another step from prototypes to business projects.
In his remarks the Principal of IPRC Musanze, Eng. Emile ABAYISENGA, presented to the public the achievements of IPRC Musanze and its contribution to the social welfare of the neighbouring community. As he mentioned, since 2015, IPRC Musanze has made tremendous achievements: IPRC Musanze has injected 1,284 diploma and advanced diploma graduates and 874 short course beneficiaries on labour market today, some have created their own businesses others have been hired by both public and private institutions. In line with the government programs, IPRC Musanze has supported citizens in various sector of Musanze district to improve their social welfare. Furthermore, the Principal acknowledged the role played by stakeholders to achieve success in delivering its programs and sharing a common understanding on market needs.
One of the stakeholders, Andrew GASHAYIJA, R-YES project team leader, expressed his gratitude to IPRC Musanze for its good cooperation with the Private Sector in helping vulnerable people to acquire skills and knowledge through short-term training. Currently, through R-YES project run by Kilimo Trust in Collaboration with Rwanda Polytechnic, IPRC Musanze is training about 51 candidates in the areas of Meat Processing and Milk Processing. He revealed that the projects will expand in other areas of training in the near future.
In this event, Dr. Joseph HATEGEKIMANA, a Rwandan diaspora and lecturer in a Polytechnic in Finland, shared Finland’s experience. As a University Lecturer, he shared his experience to IPRC Musanze teaching staff on TVET system and Education system in general of Finland where he lives and conduct research at the University of Turku.
As part of Community Outreach program, on this same occasion, the staff of IPRC Musanze contributed five million Rwanda francs (5,000,000Frw) to Musanze District to fight against Human Security Issues.
The Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) Musanze is the youngest IPRC that started in 2015 before it became one of the 8 constituent Colleges of RP in 2017. It aspires to produce competent workforce with skills and professionalism responding to the needs of the country, regional and international labour market.
IPRC Musanze offers a range of Advanced Diploma programs in different fields including the following: Crop Production, Food Processing, Irrigation and Drainage Technology, Construction Technology, Highway Technology, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electrical Automation Technology, Room Division, F&B Management, Culinary Art, Information Technology and E-Commerce. It also offers short courses derived from the above programs.
