Higher learning institutions urged to respond to the community challenges
On this 16th December 2017, during the official opening of Northern Province Mini Expo 2017, the higher learning institutions were urged to conduct researches responding to the pressing issues of the community.
Opening the Expo, KARAKE Ferdinand, the Advisor to the Governor-Northern Province, the guest of honour, encouraged students in higher learning institutions to provide the community with home grown solutions through their researches. “The Travelling Sprinkler Machine from Musanze Polytechnic may help farmers to irrigate and increase the harvest,” he mentioned.
The guest of honour thanked generally all entrepreneurs who manufacture products of great importance to the community. He called upon the foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Northern Province for its opportunities. “Increase what you do, and work together to boost the production,” he added.
In this provincial exhibition, Musanze Polytechnic is showcasing the projects that impact on the improvement of social welfare: The Travelling Sprinkler Machine, Convertible Picnic Bench, Chair Step Ladder, plus the restaurant services.
In her remarks, Uwamariya Marie Claire, the Vice Mayor-Social Affairs, expressed her gratitude to the entreprenuers who contributed to the success of Musanze in Made-in-Rwanda. She said that Musanze district got an award of the first district in Made-In-Rwanda Expo at national level. The Vice Mayor reminded the entrepreneurs that the exhibition is a relevant spot to learn from other entrepreneurs and get comments from their customers to improve their business. She thanked the foreigners who are exhibiting their products in Northern Province Mini Expo 2017 for their commitment to partake in this ongoing Expo.
The PSF Coordinator-Northern, Munyankusi Jean Damascene revealed that the exhibition has got 128 exhibitors from East Africa, China and India. Exhibitors are in different sectors; business companies, local industries, commercial bank, higher learning institutions, local government, BDF and RDB.
