IPRC MUSANZE IN A SYMPOSIUM ON RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN RWANDA
On the 28th March 2023, at Ubumwe Grand Hotel, IPRC Musanze participated in a symposium on “Applied Research in Agricultural Development in Rwanda”. It was organized by Rwanda Polytechnic under the championship of IPRC Karongi, along with Maastricht School of Management (MSM) and Rwanda Development Board (RDB), through the Strengthening Education for Agricultural Development (SEAD-West) project.
During the event, Lecturers and Students of IPRC Musanze took opportunities to exhibit and present their research findings and innovations about various topics including “Internet of things GSM based automated irrigation system (Project that intends to solve challenges faced by farmers during the dry season by regularly irrigating crops in the farm, according to the environment parameters detected in the soil, to reduce the time spent during irrigation system and farmers be notified via their mobile phone), Processing of Irish potatoes into Wine, Starch & Biscuits, Transformation of organic waste into fortified granulated organic fertilizer, etc.”
The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, Dr. Sylvie MUCYO marks this symposium as the great opportunity for the young innovators from Rwanda Polytechnic colleges who will showcase their innovative projects, to increase their visibility and connection at National and International levels. “Indeed, the Government of Rwanda considers technology and innovation as core principles to Rwanda’s future economy. We – the Rwanda Polytechnic – are mandated to be at the forefront of advancing this motive. With the focus on practical education and research, today’s Symposium is an opportunity for disseminating Research and Innovation outputs from the RP research community and beyond.” Said the Vice Chancellor
The symposium objects to spread research and innovation outputs from the Rwanda research community and beyond. It will bring together applied research relevant to Rwanda's agricultural and rural development and give researchers/presenters a platform to share their research outputs and get feedback for maturing their manuscripts for publication.
