Concrete Garden Furniture to fight against deforestation
On this 17th November 2017, Musanze district concluded seven days of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). This week was closed by a “Networking Event for Youth.” The event was organised to inspire business minded youth in entrepreneurship, and inform them about the existing opportunity. This Global Entrepreneurship Week was under the theme, “Creativity as a path to a successful entrepreneurial Journey.”
During this event, Aime JulesSIMBI , a student at Musanze Polytechnic pitched his project, “Reinforced Concrete Garden Furniture,” that aims at fighting against deforestation. He plainly explained that the furniture people use today ismostly made in wood. Thus, it leads to the destruction of environment as trees are cut to make those indispensable materials. He said that using concrete furniture may reduce and/or stop the high risks from deforestation.
Aimable RWIGAMBA, the Manager of Musanze Employment and Service Centre (MESC), delivered a lecture about the mind-set change towards employment/entrepreneurship. He explained to the young entreprenuers the available opportunities in Musanze, and urged them to aim high and benefit from them. “There are many institutions that have been established tohelp you start your business, such as BDF, NEP training, MESC, etc.” he highlighted.
Addressing the public, GafishiSEBAHAGARARA, Territorial Administration & Decentralized Governance Officer in Musanze, the guest of honour, urged the youth to work hard to achieve more. He emphasised on the value of perseverance in the business. “In business, you start small and you grow big,” he mentioned. He added that such an event, “Networking Event for Youth,” is to help youth to know each other, and learn from what other entrepreneurs are doing. “The showcased products/services are successful, and they are here to inspire you, the young generation,” he revealed.
In all corners of the world, as communities celebrate the GEW, in one week each November, thousands of events and competitions inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to the potential collaborators, mentors and investors.
